I have been waiting for my review copy to arrive and so far have not been disappointed. A great and truly useful book on the iPad that’s certainly up to what I found in Wallace’s previous book “My First Mac”. This previous book made my transition from Windows Vista to Mac OSx a joy and this book is certainly no less valuable.
My ONLY wish is that there is a follow on version that covers things like enterprise profiles, and encryption certificates. While the iPad has Cisco IPSec VPN support along with L2TP and PPTP, the Apple help files are woefully lacking in setup information. I would like to encourage Mr. Wang to consider an enterprise version to this book or perhaps in a second edition to add in some chapters on enterprise profiles and the like.
Now having gotten this out of my system….from a consumer stand point this is a wonderful book and just in the first 10 minutes of browsing I’ve found several items that I didn’t know existed on my iPad. I’m just wondering how many changes will happen once Apple gets IOS v4 out for the iPad?
When I wrote my book on Cloud Computing, I certainly pontificated a bunch about just how thin clients like the iPad have the potential for creating a paradigm shift in the IT world. Mr. Wang’s “My New iPad” will certainly help long term acceptance of the whole thin client concept.
